In 1979, Kathleen Hess-Kosa attained a Master of Science degree from the College of Engineering, Texas A&M University. Upon graduation, she was hired as the 13th team member and first female in the Risk Management Industrial Hygiene Group for Firemen’s Fund Insurance in San Francisco. In 1983, she tested for and awarded her Certified Industrial Hygienist by the ABIH. Shortly thereafter, she returned to Texas to begin another adventure into her own consulting firm.
After the original name of Hess & Associates, she changed the company name several times. Finally, she settled on Omega Environmental Consulting, A website was developed under that name, but the name was dropped from the website for failure to renew my domain name on a timely basis. She lost the domain, and a Chinese firm purchased the domain and put a “tasteful” porn site on my site. They would sell my reputation back to me for $12,000. No, “I don’t think so!” So she changed her domain name to OmegaEnvironmentalServices.com and left the porn site with her prior domain name. Most of her work is through word of mouth.
With 30 years of experience, she has been-there, done-that. Beyond her broad, extensive industrial hygiene experience, she has performed environmental site assessments, value engineering studies, litigation support, indoor air quality investigations, industrial/environmental noise assessments, and wildfire toxin investigations. She has conducted hospital infection control studies and airborne drug testing.
Additionally, she performed environmental surface and air sampling, black water coliform sampling, mold and moisture investigations, and more. And she has worked the Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill.
